My first softball game went well. I played first base and made an out there. I never got out, either by strikes or by outs in the field. I played first, third, shortstop, center field, and I was an extra for one inning.  We played 5 innings. My whole family was there. It was great to get to play again.

The first softball game I’ve participated in is finally here! I hope I’ll play first base some of the time. We normally play an hour and a half to 2 hours. This is about six innings (for us.) We’ll be playing one of the Clinic Girls teams, the Phillies.

My softball season started on Sunday. I’m on the A’s and I’m number 9. We have 11 girls on our team. My first practice was 2 weeks ago. Basically, we practice fielding and hitting. I’m being picked to play first sometimes, which means I may play it in the game. Sunday was opening day. The pictures were taken very fast, then we had announcements. We had a game at 3:30. I could not go because I had choir practice. That was the only Sunday game.

Bolt

Just came on here after watching the movie from Walt Disney, Bolt. For those of you who have not watched this movie yet, you should. It is a great movie – and watch after the credits. I was almost rolling on the floor laughing. And so were my parents!

It is about a young dog who is on a TV show but doesn’t know it-he thinks that his TV life is real. He is shipped to New York from California by accident. The movie is mainly about how he finds his way home -  and the unusual companions he meets.  I can’t give to much away, however-watch it yourself!

My sister Susanna turned 5 today. We had a little family party. She got to open her presents from my mom,my dad, and me. Mine was just a little craft I made her. I like to make, not buy, birthday or Christmas gifts. So I made her a little Perler Bead dress with blue background. I didn’t happen to have a lot of time to make it.

Her family birthday will be tons of fun…it will be 74 degrees around here. My cousins, aunt, uncles, and grandparents will be there. For those of you coming, I hope you anticipate it as much as I do.

The title is self-explanatory.
100_1019This close-up picture of a jellyfish was one of my favorites.

o100_1023It’s hard to see, but in the center left of the photo, there is a prairie dog.

100_1029My mom’s favorite animal in the zoo was the tiger. I can see why. I snapped 2 photos of this majestic animal.

100_1033I caught the tiger in midair – without meaning to! I meant to catch him on the higher level. Too early! Not that I mind, though. I was the only one in our family that got a “midair shot.”

100_1036This lion (or lioness, my dad and I couldn’t decide which) was definetely one of my favorite animals at the zoo. She had a large habitat, like the tiger. We did not see her go from one level to another. She is on the top level at the time of this photo.

100_1037You may be thinking, The orangutans were trained to climb on special wires made for them over the zoo at select times by keepers. But the start of the “o-wire” was in the orangutans’ habitat. They could climb any time they liked over the zoo! The o-wire was linked together by towers. To make sure the orangutans didn’t climb down and get away, there were low-voltage power platforms on the towers about halfway down. When they went from one wire to another, they were not touched by the electricity. So now you’re asking, Well, how did they get on it-and off it into their habitat? The answer is, the wire led down diagonally into the habitat. My family enjoyed this so much that we got several pictures of the orangutans climbing.

My family just went to Washington DC for a vacation. The first place we went was the National Zoo. Here are some photos:

I got some good photos of these animals. This was my best.

100_0996We got to see this giant octupus fed at the zoo. This was my best photo of this event.

100_1008Okay, so you might have seen hermit crabs before, and you’re saying, what’s the big deal about this one? But I’m telling you, this guy was HUGE! He was bigger than my dad’s hand.(And I am NOT exaggerating!)
