Tween Magazine Meeting

Yesterday I had a few friends over to have a “Tween Magazine Club” meeting and to start writing our magazine, Tween Magazine. We finished our first issue, with a short story, mazes, fashion tips, and more! All of the girls went to camp with me. It was great to see them again. We also took a walk around the neighborhood with my family’s dog, Ginger. (See “My Pets” for more on Ginger and our three hermit crabs.) Overall, I had a great time and can’t wait for our next meeting.

Boggle game

Do you know what Boggle is?
It is a fun word-finding game that my dad, Lena, and I play all the time after the little ones are in bed. Normally my dad creams us, but last night I won. I found 4 five-letter words in one round. (Five-letter words are worth 2 points instead of the regular 1 for 3-and-4-letter-words.) I was so excited! I won the round. The score was : Lena, 1; my dad, 24; and me, 29. This is the first time I have won a game against him!!
morning responsibilities

Arrgh! Just got the annoying news that I have to make breakfast for myself on school mornings. Add that to the fact that I just got my hair layered, which makes it curlier, which means I got a new defuser & hair treatment to care for it, which means my showers are gonna be in the morning. Our equation: making breakfast for myself + new hair care stuff + taking a shower in the mornings = WAKING UP AN HOUR EARLIER ON SCHOOL MORNINGS! That means I will wake up at: wait for it… 5:30 AM!!
Don’t get me wrong – I asked for the hair stuff, I wanted my hair layered, I like cooking, and I decided to take a shower in the morning without my mom making me. However, I do have to make breakfast, my mom won’t be very happy if I don’t use the (expensive) hair stuff she bought me, and anyway, the hair spray volumizing curl stuff works best if you take a shower before & blow dry afterwards.
Oh well…I can live with it, I guess.
New chores/experiences/privileges

Finally!!!!:-)
A couple of days ago I was alone in the kitchen making brownies. Key word : alone. I was even handling the oven myself. Well this was the first time!!!! So after the brownies had baked and cooled, I tried one. It tasted pretty good! Some mornings, I make breakfast. My sisters don’t mind. After all, my breakfasts are mostly pancakes. 
Then my mom told me that I could go on walks by myself if I took the dog with me. Yes it’s a chore, but I don’t mind. I am alone! Speaking of which, I gotta go walk her now.
Flippin’ Pizza

My friend’s dad owns a pizza restaurant. We tried it out today for the first time. It is called Flippin’ Pizza. We used to get pizza from TDAlfredo’s but my mom wants pizza delivered from Flippin’ Pizza now. Actually the pizza is pretty good.I liked the restaurant. The people that work there are very nice.
Potter County Trip

Every year, our school goes on a trip to Potter County. My science teacher has a cabin up there. The students can opt to stay at school or go to Potter County. If you are under 6th grade you must go with a parent. This year my dad is going along. I am very excited!! Plus, lots of my friends are going too. We will go maple sugaring. My friends who have gone before tell me that they also play Laser Tag and other games. It will be fun. We will still have to do homework but there will not be any actual school. There is a designated time for homework. I will not be blogging then but I will type in a blogpost as soon as I get back.
The First (Sticking) Snow

I woke up on Friday morning to the ringing of our alarm clock. From the bathroom, Susanna yelled,” It’s snowing!” Since it had been snowing all week, but there had been none that stuck to the ground, I expected to see flakes coming down but none on the ground, but when I looked out the window, there was snow on the ground. We didn’t get to play in it at school because only one kid brought boots, and by the time we got home, it had almost melted.
Speaking of first snows, on Tuesday, we were playing soccer outside(our class and some other kids)after school when it started to snow. My friends and I got so excited!
