Our family has four pets. That may seem like a lot, but three of them are hermit crabs, and one is a dog. The dog, Ginger, has been with our family longer than I have!! She is a great dog. She has some back problems, and she is 77 in dog years (which means she is 11 in our years), but she is gentle. She is also an dishwasher on legs. When I am doing the dishes, she will twist her body and head into weird positions just to get a tidbit of food off the floor. Funny -  it hurts her when we rub her back, but not when she licks the food off the floor! She is a mix of German Shepard and Boxer, we think. Or maybe  she’s a mutt. I don’t know.

Each of the three oldest girls has a hermit crab. Mine is the smallest and Susanna’s is the biggest. Maggie’s is in the middle.  They are all very healthy. Gloria, Susanna’s crab, just moved into a shell our uncle found at the beach! It had never been painted and was very light in weight, which is probably why she picked it. Now none of their shells has been painted, I think (Shelly’s may be), so they blend in with the sand! My crab is Shelly; Susanna’s is Gloria; and Maggie’s is Mary Beth II (she had one before, Mary Beth I). I love all the pets in our house!
